Rubber Mixture Mixer at Hexpol

We delivered a complete automation solution for the rubber mixture mixer, including integration with other equipment, batch control, and order processing from the T2G ERP system to the mixer PLC.

The mixer PLC controls the automatic weighing and dosing of ingredients (CB, WF, 3xOil). A recipe system is included. A request for production, consisting of up to 30 orders with a specified number of batches, is sent from a higher-level system. The operator can view the details of the orders and adjust their production order if necessary.

We provided turnkey complete safe automation, from the preparation of electrical project documentation, application software, and production of electrical cabinets to installation and commissioning at the customer’s site.

Customer Requirements

The customer requested the expansion of the production portfolio, an increase in production capacity, acceleration of the technological process while maintaining maximum product quality and safety for the operating personnel.

Solution Design

The rubber mixture mixer is controlled by the safety PLC Simatic S7-1515F-2PN with decentralized I/O peripherals, including F-DI/F-DO, communicating via LAN PROFINET and PROFIsafe. The electric regulated drives are controlled by Siemens Sinamics G120C frequency converters. Simatic manages the process of automatic weighing of ingredients and utilizes the modern weighing unit SIWAREX WTX321. The equipment is operated using Siemens HMI TP1900 touch panels. The technical solution is prepared for the installation of a camera system provided by the customer. An RFID identification system Simatic RF1040R is applied for identifying and monitoring the access of operating personnel, which also allows assigning user rights and reducing the risk of unauthorized interventions.
