RFID Identification
RFID transponder
allows reading and writing of data. Transponders vary according to the shape, size, temperature resistence, number of entries, FRAM or EEPROM memory size or scanning distance, which is also given by the selected read / write head.
RFID head
enables reading and writing of data from / to the transponder. The manufacturer divides them into several categories, RF200 and RF300 in the HF band, RF600 in the UHF band. SIMATIC RF300 is a compact, high-performance system for industrial identification working in the HF band 13,56 MHz, with up to 64 kB user memory and IP code IP68/IPX9K.
The heads have an unlimited number of entries, can be mounted directly on metals, their temperature resistence is up to 220°C with ATEX certification for zones II. They support ISO 15693, ISO 18000-4 standards, operate with high transfer rate up to 8 kB/s and manage reading distances up to 200 mm. Antenna is both integrated or external, heads are easily embedded into PLC S7-300, ET200S, S7-1200/1500, ET200SP set, programming with using STEP7 V5 or TIA STEP 7, integration into PC, RS422.
RFID head RF685
SIMATIC RF600 operates in the UHF band at 860 – 960 MHz and offers readings over longer distances (in metres). The latest models are fitted with antennas that have an automatic polarization and a larger integrated LED display. A robust design with IP65 protection will be used not only in industrial applications. A great advantage is the integrated PROFINET interface and compact design.

Communication interface
The manufacturer offers several options. Very often RS422, PROFIBUS or PROFINET interface, which can be integrated for new models directly in the RFID head. New IO-Link cost-effective interface is also available and can be applied wherever there are no large distances between the head and the IO-Link master interface in decentralised periphery (ET200SP).
